What is this about?
Neami provides financial compensation for the time, knowledge and skills that consumers and carers bring to the improvement of its services. This is also intended to cover minor costs that people may spend, like travel, internet use or printing as part of their involvement.
In response to consumer consultation and legislation Neami has recently changed its policies and procedures that guide the payment of carers and consumers. While the new process has been decided already, it is important that consumer and carers who engage in participation activities understand how payments for their contribution can be provided to them.
Workshops will be held online via Zoom - Workshop dates to be confirmed once participant numbers are finalised
Who can participate in this activity?
We are looking for five participants who
· access Neami services or support someone who does in any part of the country
· are interested in thinking about, and discussing the most effective way of communicating about participation payments
· have either low, medium or high levels of confidence with reading and understanding information
· have previously received and who have never received participation payments
We will provide support for anyone that may experience barriers to participating, for example confidence with using online platforms, language etc.
Will I receive compensation?
You will be paid $200 via bank account or online voucher.

· whether you have previously done any paid consumer participation activities at Neami.
We will consider all expressions of interest and will select participants for the workshops that represent a diverse range of participation experience and understanding.
